A Different Approach to Language Learning
MotorCourseFA was born from a simple observation: traditional language schools weren't serving mature learners well. Fast-paced classes designed for university students left many older adults feeling frustrated and overlooked.
Our founder, a retired language teacher herself, recognised that people over 50 have different learning styles, different motivations, and different needs. They want to learn for travel, personal enrichment, or to connect with grandchildren - not to pass exams or advance careers.
We opened our doors in Waterford with a mission to create a space where mature adults could learn languages in comfort, at their own pace, surrounded by peers who shared their enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
How We Make Language Learning Enjoyable
Every aspect of our programme is designed with the mature learner in mind, from our welcoming facilities to our patient teaching methods.
- 01
Comfortable Learning Environment
Our classrooms are designed for comfort with proper seating, excellent lighting, and acoustics that make it easy to hear and participate. We provide tea, coffee, and biscuits because learning should feel welcoming, not institutional.
- 02
Experienced, Patient Instructors
All our teachers have specific training in teaching mature adults. They understand that confidence builds slowly and that encouragement matters more than correction. Every lesson celebrates progress, no matter how small.
- 03
Real-World Focus
We focus on practical language skills you'll actually use - ordering meals, asking for directions, chatting with locals. Grammar is important, but we teach it in context rather than as abstract rules.
- 04
Social Learning Community
Learning happens best in a supportive community. Our students often become friends, practising together over coffee and supporting each other's progress. Many continue meeting even after completing their courses.
